Eunuchs to dance in Bangalore discos

Filed under: News — Ankur Aggarwal @ 1:27 pm

I was reading this news in NDTV and was kind of appalled.
Any ways, I hope it a a temporary phenomenon and the Eunuchs don’t stay there for ever.

PS: sorry if I come out insensitive in this post, but please understand I really feel uneasy around these people and had a couple of shocking prior experiences.

  3. well i dont think they have such a large population

society is cruel with them so they act crudely and cruelly as an exterior facade
    else they r human too
even i get a bit scared of them but they r ok i guess

  4. I am scared of them too but I think the only way to make them a part of the society is by treating them like one of us.

  5. i agree to that, we should not outcaste them.

but some of them indulge in some really distasteful practices on streets and public places to extort money from common men.
and you cannot develop any compassion for eunuchs as long as this practice/image persists.

  6. @Prax: what makes you think ankur doesn’t frequent the dance bars!!!
@Ankur, I know what practices you are talking about !!!
well the story is not at all about their rights in the society or may be getting them in mainstream!!
the story is about their use to protest the ban on women dancing in the places serving alcohol … maybe a bit of crude way but innovative all the same!!

  7. ankur is a good lad Amit ! :-) ;-)
plus with his job and the stock chats i think he has little time left for such activities .

  8. @amit…
atleast i don’t visit strip bars and pay for lap dances.
anyways bangalore night life already sucks….
all the pubs are deserted before 9:30-10:00 (like elsewhere), and need to shutdown before 11:30 (last order at 11).. so there is hardly anytime left.
then you will realize that a glass of beer/cocktail would cost far less in USA than it does in India (and after applying PPP it only becomes ridiculously expensive)
even after all this, if you happen to have a good time, then the real fun starts.
there is no place where you can safely do an overnight park and the auto union will charge you 4 times the normal fare for the ride back.
i can go on and on…

//maybe a bit of crude way but innovative all the same!!//
innovation is something that is really lacking in indians, hence i believe that this out of the box idea.. no matter how crude, should be appreciated

    @prax..
    thanks
