Future of Indian Airforce

Filed under: Humor — pegasus @ 1:45 AM

If our Finance Minister PC is given a free run to spend all the tax money in needless subsidies and popular programs designed to keep Congress in power, then soon this might be the future of Indian Air Force

PS: A nice rose to cool down anyone who does not sympathize with the pilots who lost their lives trying to fly the obsolete MIG airplanes designed for the battlefields of the late 60ies and thinks what Chidambram is doing is best for the nation

  2. This really made me think.

  3. Dear Sir,
Serviing 20 years young life means it is as good as serving whole life. After 20 years i looked back and saw where i am.
i lost my father who was link to my property and my earnings kept at home thus it is captured or rather managed by my own brothers. so a failure.

Due to far distance postings not possible to visit relatives functions, hence the relation ship is diluted. so a failure.

every transfer leads to shifting and disturbing family life. no accommodation at the place even after 20 years of service life you have to wait in que for your authorised accommodation for two to three years, and the tenure is four years. hence your stay is one to one and half year in service quarter, again the same will repeat as long as you are in service.

like delhi mumbai you get 1800 to 2100 as CILQ (money in lieu of quarter) if you stay in slums the amount is not suitable.

after 20 years your effective pay may be 12000/- even a sweeper joins in any company can be in better financial position.

Highly disciplined organisation, so you have no choice of expression than you can get only frustration.

    Welfare is on papers.

officers who are law makers think for their better rank structure and pay and perks.
they forget their own men in other ranks providing welfare. They compare their pay with IAS and others. But Airmen payment cannot be compared because they join only after 10 or 12th and the training and knowledge is given by Air Force.

promotion is a great subject to explain. It is easy to become a IAS if you work hard for two to three years. But to get jwo promotion you have to work 7 years continuously, any break in between will lead to lapse.

Hence i request before joining in IAF as airmen think of better option if you are capable to earn 5000 out side you are great than joining in IAF as Airmen.

Think of joining in IAF Please do it as Officer if not please do not venture.
One eg: No officer son joined as airmen, no officer daughter married to a airmen, even i will not let my son to become airmen. If he can i will look him as fighter pilot.

  4. its the perspective of airmen, but the “airman with 20 years of service” does not know how worse the life of an officer is in IAF. U want ur son to be a fighter pilot?? i wud say a fighter pilot is a dumbest in this whole country. he only knows to fly and boast that he knows to fly……. after all he is (10+2)-3 (3 years in NDA). He has not seen the world in the perspective of a professional but still pretends to be a professional……he is so immature that a 30 year ald NDA pass out behaves as a immature teenager. His knowledge is limited to the camp area he stays, and will never grow up beyond that fence. He talks about discipline, war studies as if these were the only two books printed in the world. I hope u would not want your son to be like this. They can never think sensibly, may it be professional, social or personal. For them partying in the station is luxury, but they never realise how the generation has changed and the concept of partying and other luxuries are better understood and affordable by civillians.
One more injustice Air Force makes is recruiting engineers as technical officers. It lures them saying ” Join IAF for a challenging and successful career” without saying anything else. most engineers join thinking that even if pay is less, the job satisfaction is high. But it all takes a toll when they see that they are commanded by a dumb (10+2-3) qualified person.Frankly, engineers are not at all required for the kind of job they are supposed to do here. Its all going by the books. so a B.Sc pass will do it better because engineers are required for innovations. here innovative skills of an engineer is used to arrange parties like a waiter or a hotel manager.
Moreover they never mention about AFWWA (Air Force Wives Welfare Association). An officer’s wife is forced to join this so called NGO. And if she does not attend for whatever reason her husband will be threatened consequences like cancellation of leave, extra duties or deputations to places where u will have to stay away from your wife. Jealousy prevails. The reason why wives should join AFWWA is that when your husband dies they pay you Rs. 15,000. WHO THE HELL CARES FOR THAT 15K WHEN HUSBAND IS DEAD. In todays scenario that 15k is peanuts. They project it as if it is a favour, They also say that they will help the wives to get their husband’s death benefits in time. It also means that you will have troubles to avail the money for what you are authorised, IF U DONT GO TO AFWWA MEETINGS.
Wing Commanders and above are blast from the past. They will never change with time. Especially NDA passed out. Ironically they think NDA and Staff College is the greatest qualification in the world. They feel B.E and MBA is nothing. “FROG IN THE WELL MAN!!!!”
And if you want to quit, apply through compassionate grounds or medical grounds and then see how much they trouble you. You will keep getting posted to far off godforsaken places where your wife and children will never come. So people dont dare to try.
U can quit Mafia but not IAF.
To say you are a commissioned officer, but with the kind of quarters u get to stay, U feel like a waiter. Its just a high quality prison with no freedom of expression, no freedom to take you own decisions(even personal…..Commanding Officer who is 10+2-3 pass, decides…..!!!) and at last being in India, a democratic country, i have no privilege of democracy……..

    • what an eye oepening reality sir, I am totally shocked to see kind of treatment given to engineers by IAF through your post. I am a fresher Aeronautical engineer who have recently applied for IAF under technical branch, please sir can you tell me joining IAF through this way is better career option looking at the current conditions ?? I seek a right guidance before making this crucial decision of my career.

    • is it all that bad??…a wing commander is now earning nearly a lakh..its a government job…with plenty of holidays…an informal atmosphere unlike army..heirarchy less….facilities for families r excellent..quality of life gud..u can earn more in civil…but quality of life questionable…not all do so better outside….companies suck the life out and wen u a bit old, they will throw u out…where is the fun…u will do well outside only if u r from premier institutes IIT/IIM..y so much cribbing….luk at the positive aspects…working in private not easy as it sounds…

  5. Dear Sir,

Why officers daughters are not officers but they are teachers or homemakers who are married to officers?
Why is there no permanent commission for lady officers?

Why do officers brag so much? why do they repeat the same topics..again and again?
have u heard the saying “Empty vessels make more noise” :)

Finally why do need a 16-19 yrs old to join NDA,why not 23-24 yrs old guys?(cant brainwash them :) )

Comment by seen air force life pretty close — December 20, 2008 @ 1:12 PM

    • both my husband MBBS, aged 27 and brother BTECH+MBA aged 25 joined airforce and r happy as the found the defence life better than civil life…nobody brainwashed them…it was a conscious decision…
defence not ideal for girls….first of all -its 98% men colleagues…frequent postings and such reasons….

  7. I had joined Indian Navy as an Engineering officer cadre trainee,Sub-lieutinent after my engineering and had left the training course…..all I want to say that defence life is just a boasting and a hype….people just get an easy Officer tag and govt job for which most of the people think its cool but actually there is no respect and dignity for anyone here…heirarical structure is so dirty and bad…I wasted my 3 months and regret having even applied for defence though i was initially motivated…A low paying job is better in civil as you atleast have the freedom….no offences to any serving officer..its just my bad experience and observation…specially for engineers…Indian defence dosent value and respect you….

  9. Pls dont join as airman otherwise u will loose your self respect and self esteem.u will b treated as britainers used to treat with indians.

  10. life is never easy anywhere INDIAN ARMED FORCES is a sector where u shud join only if u r defence oriented, and respect is a thing that is to be earned no body comes n give us at free of cost..being a soldier is important instead of thinking it to be a sector to earn a secured salary…i have stayed all my life in defence coz of my father who is no more, and i am proud to join this sector..
