being missed

Filed under: Thoughts — Ankur Aggarwal @ 12:25 am

In this world where everyone is believed to fend for themselves, the neighbors don’t know each other, and any conversation that lasts longer than a smile or the word “HI!” is an intrusion of privacy.

I think the biggest sign that humans beings are still a social animal is that when someone genuinely says that He/she missed you, you feel delighted and the bond between the 2 of you strengthen.

3 wise women

Filed under: Thoughts — Ankur Aggarwal @ 12:23 am

Can you imagine what the Bible would have to say if instead of the three wise men, you’d have three wise women?
You might get the following:

* They would have asked for directions.
* They would have arrived on time.
* They would have helped deliver the baby.
* They would have cleaned the stables.
* They would have brought practical gifts.
* They would have made a casserole.

But what would have happened when they left?
You’d have heard:

* “Did you see the sandals Mary was wearing with that gown?”
* “I heard Joseph isn’t even working right now.”
* “And that donkey they were riding has seen better days, too.”
* “Virgin, my a$$! I knew her in high school.”
* “That baby doesn’t look anything like Joseph.”
* “Want to bet how long it will take to get my casserole dish back?”
* “Did you see that drummer boy? He can beat my drum anytime!!!”

This wonderful blog post tries to capture the real reasons why the Fed bailed out some of the companies, and allowed the rest to fall.

vermilion (SINDUR) and lead/Mercury

Filed under: Thoughts — Ankur Aggarwal @ 1:29 am

Do women who lecture the world about hazards of Heavy metals like Lead/Mercury/Cadmium know what they are talking about. And if so, then why do they apply Sindhur and expose themselves and people around them with them?

ID 10 T error

Filed under: Thoughts — Ankur Aggarwal @ 11:37 pm

I was having trouble with my computer. So I called Braden, the 11 year
old next door whose bedroom looks like Mission Control,
and asked him to come over.
Braden clicked a couple of buttons and solved the
problem. As he was walking away, I called after him, ‘So, what was wrong?’

He replied, ‘It was an ID ten T error.’

I didn’t want to appear stupid, but nonetheless inquired,
“An, ID ten T error? What’s that? In case I need to fix it again.

Braden grinned….
Haven’t you ever heard of an ID ten T error before?’

‘No,’ I replied.

‘Write it down,’ he said, ‘and I think you’ll figure it out.’

So I wrote down: I D 1 0 T

I used to like the little shit . .. . . . .

sardar and turbans

Filed under: Thoughts — Ankur Aggarwal @ 12:55 am

I might be a little biased in this post.. but thats because I believe that:
Helmet rule…. A law to protect a head that is too dumb to think about its safety.

There are 2 reasons to write this post.
1. I wonder why Sikhs are not allowed to wear safety helmets, and not forced to shave off their beards.. while muslims are?
an IAF airman recently questioned this, but was turned down.

2. I am amongst those rare non sikhs to has visited several of the Gurudwaras recently (not only in Punjab, but also in nanded and Patna). I noticed that in few of the paintings, Guru Govind Singh were shown wearing a steel helmet. Also the armors in display in gurudwaras resemble the armors that Mugals used. That included the helmet.
So where in history did we reach at a situation where Sikhs are not required to wear the helmets?
